Who is Pilot Lance Lockhart?
Wyldebyrd Art is the brainchild of Captain Lance Lockhart, a seasoned airline pilot and passionate aviation artist. With more than 30 years of flying experience, Lance started his aviation journey in Northern Ontario, Canada, flying for his family’s charter airline. Now a Southwest Airlines Captain, he spends his time both in the skies and in his Mesa, Arizona workshop, where he transforms decommissioned aircraft parts into unique, handcrafted art.
The name Wyldebyrd Art is inspired by his sons, Lucas Wylde and Judah Byrd, whose creativity fuels his designs. Lance is one of the few full-time aviation artists with exclusive access to retired aircraft materials, allowing him to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces that blend industrial craftsmanship with aviation history.
**From Airplane to Art: The Transformation Process**
Each galley cart and storage box we repurpose has a story—perhaps it traveled the globe aboard a commercial jetliner or served thousands of passengers on long-haul flights.
